Sonography

Sonography can be used to detect and document normal gynecological events like early pregnancy, cyclical changes related to the menstrual cycle, localization of intrauterine devices, etc. as well as pathological events like congenital abnormalities, pelvic inflammatory disease, ectopic pregnancy, ovarian cysts, tumors, and uterine cancer.

Medical ultrasound is a diagnostic imaging technique based on the application of ultrasound.

Sonography uses a device called a transducer to send out ultrasound waves and listen for the echo. A computer translates the ultrasound waves into an image. A specially trained physician then reads the images to help diagnose medical conditions.
